The Race, a story by Marc

One day, Cat was bored. He decided to ask his friend Lion if he wanted to race. On the way there, he met the most annoying of all animals, Dog. "What are you doing in my territory?" snapped Dog. "Oh, sorry!" Cat responded. "I'm just crossing to ask Lion if he wants to race." "Fine" Dog snarled. "I'll race with you." So off they went without a word. Cat collected Lion and his friend Elephant to race. When they came back, they met a peregrine falcon. "What are you doing?" he chirped excitedly. "Oh, just racing." Cat responded. "What if I try walking instead of flying?" Peregrine Falcon queried. "Sure." First, Cat took the lead. He was too slow crossing the river and Dog went in the lead! Dog got distracted by another dog barking at him and Lion took the lead! When Cat caught up, Lion tried stopping him but couldn't Cat was in the lead again! When they were almost done, Peregrine Falcon, who was finding it very hard to hobble along with all the other animals, flew over their heads! Cat and dog got so furious that they pinned him down right before the finish line! Lion wanted to help his friend Cat, who seemed to be having a hard time, and threw himself onto the pile! But elephant, who didn't seem to care, trampled right by them , past the finish line, and won!
