Ripstiks, the new super-cool skateboards

Skateboarding is fun, true, but the new Ripstiks are funner. What's different? The skateboard is more of a oval, though the Ripstiks look like this(___)----(___), with the foot spaces and the grip handle in the middle. If you don't get it, click on this blue thing: http://www.ripstikusa.com/. It has only two wheels for a reason. By making quick, sharp turns on your Ripstik, you can get up a hill without pushing off the ground like you do with a skateboard. When you first try a Ripstik, no doubt at all, you won't be able to do it. It's reallly hard to adjust to two wheels. It took me five days to be able to ride well, and another month to be able to ride smoothly and fluidly. Warning: they hurt. Alot. Once I fell on my Ripstik when I tripped over a pothole and had a sharp pain in my leg that was a little annoying for a day. I know some kids who broke a bone. But don't go away. How to avoid being hurt? Only one rule. The Ripstik is very sensitive to: sharp bumps, cracks, potholes, sand, mud, or other mushy things that are on the road, like crushed leaves. That's the only way I know you can possibly get hurt. Just avoid that. The bad thing is that now, it's winter. I don't think you'll be riding in this weather. I suppose you could go on my blog again in the summer. Thanks!

  1. Hi Marc,
The animal story is great. Elephant wins because he concentrates on the race, refuses to be sidetracked and just keeps on going.
Ripstiks: a definite advance over conventional skate-boards. Have you tried one?
    i-pods: a fantastic technological development.
